The Relationship between Reading Difficulties and Reading Strategies among ESL Learners in Malaysia

This study is done to explore the perception of learners on their use learning strategies. It aimed at answering following questions; a)what do perceive as reading difficulties?, b) what global strategies when texts in English; c)what problem-solving overcome difficulties English? d)what support English?; e) there a relationship between and online strategies? Data was elicited via an survey questionnaire from 225 ESL undergraduates public university who have completed academic course. The instrument used rooted Abeeleh Al-Sobh (2021) comprehension problems also Amer et al (2010) readers’ perceived findings indicate significant students’ data strongly suggest that students feel stressed high levels anxiety it comes English. revealed may be active learners, making efforts comprehend they are doing best apply increase comprehension. Unfortunately, struggle appropriate help with understanding. Clearly, still lack awareness effective difficulties. pedagogical implications would enhancement practical classrooms motivate levels.
